Apart from the lighting, location is probably the biggest thing that can make or break a picture. I'm constantly on the lookout for awesome new locations.
When we moved into our new house a few months ago the one thing we felt like we were compromising on was our yard. It's tiny. Like really really tiny. I had been dreaming of a nice yard that could be landscaped amazingly for an outdoor studio. There is no chance of that here. But the house and neighborhood were so perfect, we decided that was something we could live with (we have 3 parks within a 5 minute walk of our house that the girls can play at).
Well, last weekend Kyle started working on getting our backyard ready to put grass in. Luckily he didn't finish, because this week we got the most amazing amount of dandelions I have ever seen. I thought, I bet could be really cool for a picture. The weather was finally nice today, we headed outside. Check it out!
Here is our yard:
(the babies had already sat in the middle of the dandelions when I took this)
And here are the pictures!
So here is my challenge to you. Whether you're a photographer or a mom with a camera, try getting creative with the angles of your shots. Get down on eye level with your kiddies. Do something out of your comfort zone. I bet you'll be glad you did!
